Castillo de Sohail is located right at the mouth of the Fuengirola River, on a small isolated hill that rises 38 metres above sea-level. It was built in AD 956 by Abd-ar-Rahman III to strengthen the coastal defenses. In 2000 the ruins were renovated turning it into a tourist attraction and functioning space used for concerts and other festivals.
